I’ve been noticing several Clinical Data Management (CDM) openings in Greece, particularly at Pfizer and Merck, including Senior Data Manager and other clinical data roles.Previously, I mostly noticed these types of opportunities in India. Now I’m wondering whether this is part of a broader shift in how multinational pharmaceutical companies are organising their global CDM teams. For people currently working at Pfizer, Merck, or other large pharmaceutical companies:Are companies expanding their CDM teams in Greece and other European countries, or are these replacement positions? Is any clinical data management work being moved from India to Europe, or are both regions expanding independently? What are the main reasons for hiring CDMs in Greece - is it cost, talent availability, European operations, or a change in organisational strategy? How do salary, career growth and job security compare between CDM roles in India and Greece?Do you expect more global CDM opportunities to open in Europe over the next few years?I’m currently working in Clinical Data Management in India and would appreciate insights from people with firsthand industry experience. Thanks!

  • “Yes. They need the externally facing teams in better timezones, and with an easy ability to travel (passport privilege) to US and other European countries with minimal logistical barriers. And you're saying Greece/Poland, I'm seeing a resurgence here in the UK.”

  • “Best guess is that they want client facing CDM roles in low cost countries but also close to European and NA time zone.”

  • “They are not. It is more than likely to be replacements for other roles that were in UK/Germany..etc. The shift is very much still going to India. Stats and programming is migrating there massively too. It will keep migrating there until AI can do most of the work.”

  • “I dont know if this is new, i applied to novo nordisk for example, in europe, to be a data manager like 3 years ago too, those positions were already available before. I didn't get the job though”

  • “I’ve seen a big increase in the number of DMs in Eastern Europe over the last 5-7 years. Poland, Romania mainly.”
