What happened

In October 2026 Qualcomm patented a way to choose random-access repetitions for cellular devices, helping phones and other wireless equipment connect reliably to networks.

Source

Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a system information block type 1 (SIB1). The UE may transmit a physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission based at least in part on one or more of a set of PRACH repetition numbers or selection criteria associated with the set of PRACH repetition numbers, wherein one or more of the set of PRACH repetition numbers or the selection criteria are based at least in part on whether a configuration associated with one or more of the set of PRACH repetition numbers or the selection criteria is present or absent in the SIB1. Numerous other aspects are described.
