Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

I started Briggs Analytics in early October because of something I read in August. Google paid $10 million at a bankruptcy auction for Spirit Airlines' internal records, and a few companies have since started paying ordinary businesses for the same kind of history. I figured I'd try introducing companies to those buyers and see if anyone cared. What I expected: business owners would want to hear about it. What happened: owners mostly ignored cold email. Nearly 10,000 emails to owners produced a handful of human replies. The people who answered inside a few hours were a restructuring advisor and an investment banker, both with clients going through a sale or a wind-down. Two national reporters also wrote back, and one of them told me last night the story is "more complex" than he first thought, which I think is fair. A few things I didn't expect: - The first question from every owner is about customer data, and the answer in the published deals is that customer names come out before anything leaves the building. - The second question is whether the license is exclusive. It changes the money more than anything else. - Architecture and engineering firms are the group nobody else seems to be talking to, which is where I'm spending November. Nothing has closed yet. Two deals are moving and I'll post an update either way. For anyone who has sold or closed a company, did your...

You cannot currently tell whether 10,000 owners ignored your email or never received it. From your side of the fence those two failures look identical. Both come back as silence. • “Been curious about this niche myself, as someone wrapping up a venture and looking to get into something new. I haven’t taken the plunge for a lot of the reasons you list above. I’ve seen a few people talking about how much money is in it on socials, but not sure how much is hype/course sellers and how much is real. Seems like it’s pretty big among SaaS startups where you have a big digital foot”
