What’s New in AI Studio: Column Chaining and Campaign Workflow Updates

Columns now connect, run, and update automatically through a dependency graph — giving you more control, faster automation, and greater scalability. This article explains what’s new, what’s changed, and how these updates affect existing users.

We’ve completely redesigned how campaigns work to make them easier to use, more flexible, and much more powerful.

1. A Simpler, Unified Table

The old Data / Action / Export sections are gone. All columns now live in one clean table where each column represents a step in your workflow.

Exports are now Action columns.

That means sending to Gmail, Outlook, HubSpot, or an API works just like generating insights or content — all part of the same flow.

You can chain multiple steps together so one runs automatically after the next. Previously, all actions generated at once. And all exports could only run after actions were finished generating.

Here's what's possible now, for example:

  • Import prospects → Generate insights → Write content → Send emails → Export to CRM.

Every action connects automatically, creating a true end-to-end workflow.

2. Chaining and Auto-Run

AI Studio now understands how your steps depend on each other.

  • When an upstream column runs or updates, any downstream column with Auto-Run turned on will re-run automatically.

  • If Auto-Run is off, cells that are out of date turn yellow. Hover to see which input changed and click Run to refresh it.

  • Each cell clearly shows its status: Waiting, Running, Success, Error, or Outdated.

This means less manual clicking and fewer errors — every step stays synced automatically.

If you prefer more control, keep Auto-Run off for specific columns (like final sends) and review before running them manually.

3. New Column Configuration

Every column now opens a slide-out panel on the right for quick setup and editing.

From this panel, you can:

  • Rename the column and adjust its icon

  • Map your input fields (email, LinkedIn URL, company URL, etc.)

  • Customize Content Settings or Export Settings

  • Turn Run Conditions on or off

Everything for that step — data, logic, and preferences — is now managed in one place.

4. Redesigned AI Content Steps

Creating and managing content steps is now easier and more consistent.

To add content:

  • Click Actions → Add Content Step at the top right of your campaign.

  • Define one or more steps (e.g., Step 1 Email, Step 2 Follow-up) inside the new panel.

  • Add replies or new threads under Content Settings.

To edit existing content:

  • Click the icon in the column header → Edit Column.

  • Scroll to update inputs, blueprints, or content settings.

Inside the panel, you’ll also see:

  • Input Mappings: Always map Email and LinkedIn URL for best results.

  • Content Hub Preferences: Choose tone, value props, and assets specific to that column.

  • Credit Usage: View how many credits each content step will consume.

All steps within one content column now generate together, keeping your tone and context aligned.

5. Improved Input Mapping

Input Mapping now happens per column, giving you full control and better visibility.

  • Required fields auto-expand until mapped.

  • Missing lookup fields display a message: “Map Contact Email, LinkedIn URL, or Company URL below.”

This setup makes it easier to see exactly which data powers each action and fix issues faster.

6. Smarter Exports and Sending

Exports follow the same rules as other actions, so they can chain automatically after content generation (or other dependent inputs).

When configuring a Send with Gmail/Outlook or API Export column:

  • Map the Subject and Body from your content columns.

  • Add multiple follow-up steps with precise timing (days, hours, minutes).

  • Use Run Conditions to only send or export when criteria are met (for example, only send if Lead Score > 80).

  • If a mapped field changes, you’ll see a clear reminder to re-save the configuration.

Everything that leaves your campaign now runs automatically and predictably.

7. Migration and What to Expect

All your existing campaigns were automatically migrated to this new system.

  • Your data, mappings, and configurations remain intact.

  • Any previous “Export” columns now behave as Action columns.

  • Campaigns now run faster and more reliably — especially when chaining multiple steps.

You may notice a cleaner layout, updated status indicators, and the new column configuration panel. Otherwise, everything you already built continues working the same way.

8. Why It Matters

These updates unlock full workflow automation inside AI Studio. You can now:

  • Automate every step from research to send without leaving your campaign.

  • Keep data and content perfectly in sync using Auto-Run.

  • Save time by managing mappings, preferences, and blueprints from one place.

  • Debug instantly with clear, real-time feedback for every cell.

This upgrade turns AI Studio into a true workflow engine — giving you more control, faster execution, and fewer manual steps.

Next Steps:

  • Open a campaign and review your column setup.

  • Check that your content and export columns have the correct input mappings.

  • Toggle Auto-Run on for any steps you want to chain automatically.

Once you’ve done that, your campaigns will run end-to-end — insights, content, and sends — automatically.
