1. Using Outreach’s Custom Fields

Outreach provides 35 custom fields by default, designed to hold custom data for each prospect.

Why does this matter?

When exporting from Autobound, you’ll use these fields to store hyper-personalized content—like email subjects, email bodies, LinkedIn messages, or call scripts—generated specifically for each prospect. These custom fields make it possible to merge Autobound-generated messaging directly into your Outreach sequences for every step. No additional setup is needed in Outreach; these fields are ready to use out of the box.

2. Build Your Outreach Sequence

Set up your Outreach sequence with all desired steps—emails, LinkedIn requests, call tasks, reply emails, and more.

  • For each step, use the Insert Variable feature in Outreach to select and insert the appropriate custom field.

  • Assign each sequence step to a unique Outreach custom field, such as {{custom25}} for step one subject, {{custom26}} for step one body, and so on. This ensures each message or task is populated with the correct Autobound-generated content.

Example Sequence:

  • Step 1: Email — Subject uses {{custom25}}, Body uses {{custom26}}

  • Step 2: LinkedIn message — Body uses {{custom27}}

  • Step 3: Reply Email — Body uses {{custom28}}

  • Step 4: Call Task — Notes use {{custom29}}

Important:

In call steps, type the custom field token directly in the notes area (e.g., {{custom29}}). This ensures that when the call task appears for your rep, it’s populated with the personalized script or note from Autobound.

Pro tip:

If a step isn’t an email (like a LinkedIn or call step), just use the body or notes field with the correct custom field.

Plan your sequence ahead of time and keep track of which Outreach custom field you’ll use for each step, so your mapping from Autobound matches perfectly.

3. Set Up Outreach Triggers (Required for Automated Enrollment)

To automatically enroll prospects into a sequence once Autobound content has been generated and exported:

  • In Outreach, create a trigger that enrolls a prospect into your chosen sequence when a specific custom field is updated (e.g., when custom25 is populated).

  • You can also set conditions based on the sender, such as contact owner or a specific user, to control who the sequence is sent from.

This step is required if you want enrollment to happen automatically based on Autobound’s data export.

4. Map Autobound Data to Outreach Custom Fields

  • In your Autobound campaign, go to the Actions menu and select Export (or use Settings > Export or Send).

  • Choose Export to Outreach and select your connected Outreach account.

  • Map each Autobound content field (subject, body, LinkedIn message, call script, etc.) to the corresponding Outreach custom field you’ve chosen for each step in your sequence.

  • Make sure to also map a unique identifier (email) to ensure the correct Outreach prospect is updated.

  • For email content, map the HTML version for best formatting and proper display in Outreach. Learn more about HTML vs. plain text and when to use each.

5. Run the Export

  • Once all mappings are set, you can run the export manually for your selected rows.

  • Or, enable auto-run so that any new row (or updated row with new content) is automatically exported to Outreach without manual intervention.

  • Autobound will push the data to the mapped Outreach custom fields for each prospect, making personalized messaging available for your sequence steps.

6. Verify in Outreach

  • Check your Outreach sequence templates and prospect records to ensure custom fields are being populated correctly.

  • Confirm that personalized content is appearing in the right place for each step.
