Before You Export: Prerequisites & Setup
Create Your Campaign in Instantly
Before you export from Autobound, create your campaign in Instantly.
You’ll need this campaign ready so you can push prospects into it from Autobound.
Get Your Instantly API Key
To connect Instantly to Autobound, you’ll need your Instantly API key:
Go to integrations
Click the "API Keys" section in the left sidebar
Click the "Create API Key" button
Enter the API key name (used for display purposes only)
Select the scopes you would like this API key to have
Press the "Create" button
Copy your API key for use in Autobound.
Set Up Content Steps in Autobound
In your Autobound campaign, make sure you have content steps configured as action columns. These are required for Autobound to generate and export personalized messages into Instantly.

Exporting from Autobound to Instantly
In your Autobound campaign, click the Actions button in the top right corner.
Select Export and choose Instantly.
When prompted, enter your Instantly API key to authorize the connection.
Choose the Instantly campaign you created as your export target.
Note:
Autobound will automatically map your content steps to custom fields in Instantly (these become your merge variables in Instantly sequences).
Make sure to map the prospect’s email field, as well as any other data (like company name or job title) you want to use as variables in your Instantly campaign.
Setting Up Your Sequence in Instantly
Once you’ve run your export, go into Instantly and set up the steps for your campaign.
For each step where Autobound has provided content, insert the mapped custom fields/variables into your Instantly sequence:
New Thread (first email): Use both the subject and body variables (e.g., {{autobound_email_1_subject}}, {{autobound_email_1_body}}).
Reply steps: Only insert the body variable for each step (e.g., {{autobound_email_2_body}}, {{autobound_email_3_body}}, etc.).
Additional Threads: For any new thread, there will also be a subject variable (e.g., {{autobound_email_3_subject}}).
Helpful Tip:
Most users leverage a mix of Autobound and templated content in Instantly. You might use Autobound to generate a few highly personalized emails (step 1, step 2), while other steps use your standard Instantly templates with native merge variables. Both approaches can run side-by-side in a single sequence.
Automate Export
Once your export is configured, you can set it to run automatically—so new prospects and fresh content are always pushed into your Instantly campaign and sequence variables.
